Madame Candace Séguinot est professeure émérite à l’École de traduction de l’université York à Toronto et a été jusqu’à 2017 directrice du Program in Technical and Professional Communications de l’université York. Elle est membre du Comité sur la formation de l’International Association for Translation and Intercultural Studies.
What exactly is a cognitive approach to studying translation? This talk will look at the goals of a cognitive approach and the methodologies used to study translation processes from a variety of perspectives. Observational and experimental studies tell us something about how languages may be stored and accessed. They also tell us something about the nature of expertise, about cognitive style, about the effect of ergonomics, and about ways of looking at skill development.
